In 1937, the lawyer and state person Aurelian (Aurel) Bentoiu, builds on his domain in Făcăeni village, a Neo-romanian style manor. The builder is known as Tănase Teodorovici, while the architect is unknown. The manor is located on the outskirts of the village, in the very heart of the former estate. Amongst the characteristic elements of the Neo-romanian style present in this building there are the morphology of the roof and the two open porches, defined by masonry columns with decorated capitels, at the ground level, and by wooden carved columns, at the first floor.
The domain is claimed by the Communist regime in the 50s, Aurelian Bentoiu being sentenced twice to prison on political grounds and ultimately dying in Jilava prison in 1962. His children, Pascal Bentoiu and Marta (married Cozmin) continue the legacy of their father. The son becomes a famous composer, musician and musicologist, while the daughter becomes a writer.
Nowadays the mansion is inhabited again after a long period of abandonment, however the dwellers don’t have the financial possibilities to properly restore the manor.
