Around the 1600s the domain situated in Olari village was the property of Hamzea and Caplea boyars. Through property transfer it finds its way into serdar (minister) Cantacuzino’s possession around 1777 Through successive inheritance the domain arrives in Zissi family,
George Zissi and his sister Elenei (married) Cornetti. A great music lover, George remains well known through his piano concerts in the manor’s yard, Elena is known for founding the music school of Craiova, but also for donating to the local community her entire share of the domain.
The manor features the characteristics of Brâncoveanu style together with influences from the local kule. The manor is comprised of a raised ground floor, large vaulted basement, incorporates a open porch and a loggia on the rear facade. In the 1910s the cityhall of Craiova, sells at auction the domain to C.C.Neamțu, family friend of the Zissis and chief accountant of the Commecial Bank of Craiova. The new owner, knowing arh. Ion Mincu who was working on the Bank’s headquaters, comissions him to restore the country manor. The manor is later restored by arh.Ctn. Iotzu, Ion Mincu dying before undertaking the comission. Following 1948, the domain is taken over by the communist regime and the manor is misused, leading to decay and damages.
After 1989, it’s abandoned. In recent years, the heir of the Neamțu family managed to reclaim the property and supported by UAR and a young volunteer group called The Alternative for Monuments, seeks to restore the building.
